ADVENT: CHRISTMAS IS COMING
Christmas is coming. That thought can drive us into a frenzy of activity or slow us to cherish each day. This Advent season, we hope you’ll find these resources valuable as you prepare your heart for the coming of Christ.
WHAT IS ADVENT?
Advent is a period of roughly 4 weeks leading up to Christmas. If you’re unfamiliar with Advent, it is a season of anticipation. (Think “adventure,” which actually comes from the same latin root.) During Advent, we prepare for Christ’s arrival. We remind ourselves that all is not right in the world, and what we need most is not a thing but a person. We need a savior. Not presents. Presence.
WHAT IS ADVENT CONSPIRACY?
Advent conspiracy is a global movement of churches like ClearView to reclaim this season from one of consumerism to one of compassion. Again, not presents. Presence. Using the resources below, we remind ourselves to:

- Spend Less
- Give More
- Love All
WHAT CHRIST BRINGS
Many families observe the four weeks of Advent by lighting candles. Typically 4 candles are arranged in a circle or wreath. These symbolize four great gifts Christ brings us: hope, love, joy, and peace. Inside the circle, a fifth candle is placed to symbolize Christ. Each Sunday a new candle is lit, representing these gifts. If you like, you could include lighting candles as you reflect on any of the devotionals and prayers below. There is no right or wrong way to observe Advent. Select from the resources below what will most help you, your family, or your group remember that Christ is coming!
