Fully Alive

Maybe you feel like you’re just getting by. Or maybe not even that. Hear this – the gospel is for you. We all know what “not enough” feels like. Not enough time, not enough money, not enough of you to go around. Not enough patience, not enough self control, not enough joy. Jesus says, “I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.” Imagine that – abundant life, more than enough, being and feeling fully alive! The gospel is more than the story of God offering us forgiveness and a blank slate. That would be enough. But the gospel is more than enough. The gospel is nothing less than the offer of a new and abundant life, a journey where we come fully alive. In the 2nd century, a Jesus-follower named Irenaeus wrote that “The glory of God is a human fully alive.” In the beginning, God gave us life, and no matter our struggle, he’s got more to give. God’s not done with us until we’re fully alive, and the more we come alive the more we bring glory to his name – the more our lives show off what only God can do!
